A house in Sanford was damaged by fire Saturday morning.
Firefighters from the Sanford Fire Department and several surrounding towns responded to the call on West Elm Street at 10:17 a.m. No one was home at the time, but a neighbor or passer-by reported the fire on the upper floors of the home.
Sanford Fire Chief Steve Benotti said representatives from the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated but were unable to determine the exact cause of the blaze. The fire damaged the second and third floors of the home, causing moderate damage. Benotti said the house was “uninhabitable” Saturday evening.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries but was treated and released at the scene.
