WINDHAM – A hit-and-run crash that killed a 25-year-old bicyclist Wednesday evening remains under investigation and police released no new details about the incident Thursday.
Brandon Dumond, who lived on Anderson Road, was hit as he rode his bicycle along Anderson Road hear his family’s home. Dumond was dead when officers arrived at the scene of the crash, according to police.
The crash involving Dumond was reported at 6:50 p.m. A short time later, a single-vehicle crash was reported on River Road, about one mile from the intersection with Anderson Road. Police said Wednesday they were working to determine whether the vehicle in the second accident was also involved in the crash that killed Dumond.
Windham Police Lt. James Boudreau declined on Thursday to provide any other details about the incident, including whether police have connected the hit-and-run to the second crash. “It is still under heavy investigation,” he said.
Anderson Road is in a rural section of Windham near the Westbrook town line. The curvy two-lane road has narrow, gravel shoulders and no street lights. The posted speed limit is 40 mph.
A woman who answered the door at the Dumond home declined to speak to a reporter.
