A Sanford man arrested Thursday and charged with possessing child pornography was released later in the day after he posted bail.

Robert Gouin, 35, of 124 Emery St. was taken into custody after personnel from the Maine State Police computer crimes unit, Sanford police and the Department of Homeland Security searched his apartment. A tip triggered the investigation.

Gouin was charged with possessing sexually explicit material and taken to York County Jail. He will appear in court in December.

An initial examination of Gouin’s electronic equipment showed dozens of images and videos of child porn, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release.
