We all know how awkward the public marriage proposal can be, but the one that happened at last night’s Yankees-Red Sox game took it to a whole new level of embarrassment.

During the game at Yankee Stadium, a Yankees fan got down on one knee in the stands to propose to his girlfriend, but when he opened the ring box, the ring wasn’t there. With the cameras watching, he and other fans searched the bleachers frantically before the ring was found.

He started over — and she said yes.
