BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The Opportunity Alliance announced its board of directors for the fiscal year that began on July 1:
Thomas Saturley of Tranzon Auction Properties was named chair, Marc Doyon of UNUM was named secretary and Dan Hunter of Gorham Savings Bank was named treasurer.
Also named to the board are: Dr. Rebecca Bloch of Maine Medical Center; Abusana Micky Bondo, Colette Twigg-Rowse, Barbara Schneider and Anita Chandler, community volunteers; Sarah Coupe of the Grace House for Women; Jane Harmon of Key Bank National Association; Jeanne Hulit of Northeast Bank; Chris Jerome of UNUM; Angus S. King III of First Wind; Tom Smith of Summit Energy Solutions; Tim Soley of East Brown Cow Management; Cynthia Tayman-Veroneau of Portside Real Estate Group; Jim Vachon of WEX and Marie-Christine Simbizi and Ann Courtney. Laura Marceau will serve as policy council liaison.
Levey Day School in Portland welcomed five people to its board of trustees:
Kathryn Woodson Barr, head of Maine Girls Academy; Benjamin Bornstein, an attorney in Portland; Tom Addicks, a retired educator; Suzanne Rosenberg, former president of two independent school boards and Larissa Crockett, who has a master’s degree in public administration and economics.
Todd Cesca was recently elected to the board of directors of the United Way of York County.
Cesca, of Kennebunk, is a partner in Charter Oak Capital Management in Portland.
Bruce Wagner, chief executive officer of the Finance Authority of Maine, was elected to the board of directors of the National Council of Higher Education Resources. Wagner has served as chief executive officer of FAME since 2014.
Pine Tree Society recently named Martin Bailey, Ian McCarthy, Matthew Prunier and Carol Brunjes Weaver to its board of directors.
Bailey is a personal financial representative at Allstate in Lewiston.
McCarthy, of Key Bank, is the area retail leader for central western Maine.
Prunier is a CPA with Baker Newman Noyes in Portland. Weaver is a math teacher at Milford High School in New Hampshire.
Ned Cloonan joined to the board of trustees at the MDI Biological Laboratory.
Cloonan, a summer resident of Castine, is the principal of Ned Cloonan Associates.
The Kids First Center named Michelle Cianchette to its board of directors.
Cianchette, of Cumberland, worked nearly 10 years in finance before joining L.L.Bean.
Avesta Housing announced recent board appointments.
Peter Bass is a developer and owner of Random Orbit Inc. in Portland; Chomba Kaluba is a motivational speaker and serves on the faculty at Southern Maine Community College and Lori Parham is the state director of AARP Maine.
Tedford Housing recently elected members and officers to its board of directors.
Judy Montgomery, associate librarian of the Bowdoin College Library, returned to the board after a one-year hiatus.
Seven members of the board renewed their terms: Andree Appel, Sally Carignan, John Carson, Marcy McGuire, Dot Ollier, Chris Powell and Nonny Soifer.
The following people were elected officers: John Carson, pastor of the Elijah Kellog Church, was elected president of the board; Andree Appel, clinical director of the Oasis Health Network, was elected vice president; Nonny Soifer, a lawyer in private practice, was re-elected secretary; Sarah Piper, commercial lender at Bath Savings Institution, was re-elected to treasurer and Claudia Staberg, consultant and college adviser, was re-elected as an at-large representative.
Preble Street expanded its board of directors and announced and a new board president.
New to the board are Stephen Pryor, Jennifer Wilson and John Roberts.
Pryor is the complex director at RBC Wealth Management in Portland.
Wilson is the corporate merchant for the women’s apparel team at L.L. Bean as well as the controller for the Forest Avenue Veterinary Hospital in Portland. She is also vice chairman for the L.L. Bean board.
Roberts is the retired president and chief executive officer of Assurant Employee Benefits. He served in that role from 2007 to 2015.
Herb Janick, a partner at Sidley Austin LLP in Portland, became Preble Street’s board president.
Bath Housing Development Corp. announced that Michelle Renaud Rines has joined its board of directors.
New officers are Mary Terry of Woolwich who was named president and Catherine Powers of West Bath who was elected vice-president.
Rines, of Woolwich, has worked at Maine Medical Center, Androscoggin Home Health Services and MidCoast Hospital with its geriatric mental health resource program.
