The Cadenza audience on Friday night will hear a tasty mix of great covers and carefully crafted originals by Magic 8 Ball. The trio takes the stage at the Freeport venue at 7 p.m.
Maine musicians Ted DeMille, Ben Hunsberger and Chris Dombrowski offer fresh takes on Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell and a host of other great songwriters. Outstanding musicianship and heartwarming harmonies are staples of Magic 8 Ball performances — musical conversations with the audience.
DeMille is a perennial presence in Midcoast Maine’s music scene, writing folk-inspired songs of Indian summers and mornings on the porch. Hunsberger’s originals add another dimension to the band with songs of forgiveness and paths to the river. Dombrowski holds it all together with the perfect bass line.
The band has performed regularly at St. Lawrence Arts Center (The Hill, Portland), Frontier in Brunswick, Ossipee Valley Music Festival and across the state.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door (5 Depot St.); $12 for students. The show will be livestreamed from Cadenza’s Facebook page. Visit cadenzafreeport.com for more information and ticket link.
