Edith Patricia August
YARMOUTH – Edith Patricia August, 95, a longtime resident of Bancroft Street, Portland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, after a short illness.
Edith was born on June 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Adolf and Edith August. Her father passed away at a young age, and Mrs. August married Mr. Szymanski and they had two children, John Szymanski and Karen Szymanski.
Edith graduated from Cathedral high School in 1948. She began her lifelong work at the New England Telephone Company. She was a brilliant student and rose in the company to a leadership position.
Mary Ekowicki and Antoinette Tatarczuk were her dearest friends. They loved traveling, and they ventured off whenever they pleased.
Edith was predeceased by many cousins. She is survived by two cousins, including John McCarthy of New Hampshire, and Robert Ekowicki of Gorham, Maine.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
