DAYTON – Patricia A. (Allen) Soule, 86, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025 at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Farmington on Jan. 8, 1939, daughter of John and Eleanor (O’Dell) Allen. She was educated in the Farmington school system, and attended Mount Blue High School.
It was during her time in high school when Pat met the love of her life, Barton Soule. The couple married on Feb. 28, 1955, and settled in Farmington. Barton then enlisted in the military, which gave them the opportunity to live in variety of states. Upon Barton’s discharge they returned to Maine, and primarily resided in both Old Orchard Beach and South Portland.
Pat spent a number of years working at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland. Later in life, Pat became a certified cosmetologist, and enjoyed the friendships she made with her clients.
Pat looked forward to gatherings with anticipation and joy. The love and laughter shared with family and friends were the cornerstones of her life. Some of her best family memories were reunions in the Farmington area, and time at Higgins Beach and Sebago Lake. She was a giving wife, mother, sister and friend.
Pat loved animals. The annual trip to Fryeburg Fair was not complete unless she spent quality time seeing the livestock. In recent years, pets Annie and Max were a constant source of enjoyment.
She had several hobbies and interests, but travel with her husband Barton was at the top of her list. They were fortunate to take several trips and vacations over the years, with Las Vegas Nev., Laughlin Nev., and Phoenix, Ariz. as their most visited destinations.
Above all, Pat cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She continuously supported them by attending sporting events, recitals, school activities, theater performances and graduations. Pat will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially by her husband, Barton, who refers to Pat as his “best friend, travel companion, wife of 70 years, and the love of his life”.
Patricia was predeceased by seven siblings, Barbara, John, Katheryn, Herbert, Clyde, Richard and Diane.
She is survived by her husband, Barton D. Soule; by her four sons, Jerry Soule, Michael Soule, Douglas Soule, and Tom Soule with wife Virginia, by her daughter, Susan Schlapak with husband Eric; by 12 grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Courtney, Carley, Logan, Ashley, Emily, Cameron, Nick, Alex, Olivia and Luke; by six great-grandchildren, Harrison, David, Kenneth, Anthony, Shane and Hunter; by two brothers, Philip and David; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 14, at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta. The family will announce plans for a Celebration of Life.
