WASHINGTON, D.C. – Margaret Mary “Mary” Grumbine, 79, died of natural causes in her home in Washington, D.C., on the night of Oct. 18, 2025.
As a lawyer, she earned some “firsts”, including first woman to be city attorney in Boulder, Colo. and first woman to be a regional counsel in Customs. She was a lover of the arts and proudly said that her online presence was more notable for poetry she’d written than cases she had won. She was also an avid dancer, pianist, and golden retriever parent.
Mary is survived by her nieces Elizabeth and Susan, and nephew, Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 5, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, 8 Two Lights Rd., Cape Elizabeth. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. To share memories of Mary or to leave the family online condolences please visit http://www. Athutchins.com
