Women from across Maine and beyond will gather on Nov. 8 for In Her Words, a day-long storytelling conference dedicated to helping women rediscover purpose, courage, and connection through their personal stories. Hosted by weHeroines, a Bath/Woolwich-based organization, the event blends inspiring talks, storytelling workshops and real-life examples of transformation. This event is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 317Main in Yarmouth.

What makes this conference one of a kind is the $1,000 Leap Grant — an award given to one attendee ready to take a bold next step toward her dream, whether it’s launching a business, writing a book, starting a project or funding an idea that matters deeply to her. It’s not just a day of inspiration; it’s a chance to walk away with the seed money to make change happen.

The conference centers on one transformative truth: When women share their stories, they unlock change — in themselves, in others and in the world around them.

Keynote speaker Lael Couper Jepson will open the day with a talk that ignites transformation, calling women to rise, to rewrite the stories that have kept them small and to step boldly into their own power. Known for her fierce honesty and contagious energy, Jepson’s message is a rallying cry for women ready to move from hesitation to action, from silence to self-expression, from comfort to calling.

Presenters Margo Walsh, Phyllis Blackstone and Margaret Jones will carry that spark forward, revealing how seeing your life as a story changes everything. The struggles, the pivots, the moments that once felt random all begin to align — each revealing a deeper thread of purpose that leads every woman toward a powerful and meaningful destination.

“We created In Her Words to remind women that they’re not side characters in someone else’s story,” conference founder Susanna Liller said in a prepared release. “Each woman’s life is one big, amazing story — with plot twists, challenges and breakthroughs — and she is the heroine of it.”

WeHeroines is a local business rooted in purpose. Founded by Liller, who spent decades advising Fortune 500 companies on how to be strategic and successfully navigate the future, weHeroines helps women do the same with their lives. The organization empowers women of all ages and stages of their careers to connect with what they truly want and to move along the path toward their goals.

“It’s never been more timely to teach women that they all have a story,” Liller said. “They are the lead character — not the supporting role — in their own journey.”

Tickets are available at weheroines.com/conference. Sponsorship opportunities start at $250, offering local businesses a meaningful way to support women’s empowerment and community storytelling.
