BRUNSWICK — Oliver Gorchoff starred in the Brunswick boys soccer team’s regular-season matchups against Mt. Ararat.

The Class A North quarterfinal matchup was no different.

As he did in the first two meetings, the junior forward contributed to every score Wednesday. He had a hat trick and assisted on Liam Rapoza’s first-half header, leading third-seeded Brunswick to a 4-0 victory over No. 6 Mt. Ararat.

“He’s just such a smart player,” Brunswick coach Mark Roma said. “He just sees the field; he just makes it so smooth. The combination of he and Liam, I think, are the best two in the state. They played together for so long. They know where each other’s going. … It’s just fun. Sometimes you just sit back and watch. I’d like to take credit, but that’s not me. That’s the hard work that those guys have put in for the past 15 years.”

Brunswick advances to face No. 2 Lewiston at 7 p.m. Saturday. The No. 2 Blue Devils beat and tied the Dragons during the regular season.

The chemistry showed immediately, as Rapoza received a cross from Jacob Samuel and quickly redirected it to Gorchoff near the top of the box. The fifth-minute score assuaged many of Roma’s pregame nerves.

“It started the engine,” Rapoza said. “Once we scored that, we got going. We wanted more, and we just kept going.”

Gorchoff returned the favor in the 14th minute, saving an over-the-top pass from going out the left side and sending a pass back into play for the junior midfielder to elevate and slam home.

Brunswick (12-2-1) got two more goals from Gorchoff in the 37th and 67th minutes, the latter coming off a miscommunication by Mt. Ararat (6-8-1) during Brendan Shaw’s indirect kick into the box.

The Dragons also had two second-half goals wiped away because of offsides calls.

“We played them twice already, so we knew what they had,” Gorchoff said. “We came with it and just played well today.”

Eight days earlier in the regular-season finale, Gorchoff scored twice, including the overtime winner. He also scored the winner in the first meeting.

Wednesday was the first postseason Battle of the Bridge matchup since the regional semifinals in 2022, when Brunswick last won the Class A championship.

Declan Theberge stopped five shots for Brunswick. Mt. Ararat’s Evan Weymouth made six saves.

“They’re good,” Mt. Ararat coach Jack Rioux said. “We knew their key players. We knew what we had to do. We made a few uncharacteristic mistakes, and they beat us. I did a poor job getting us ready for it. I’ll take responsibility on that. We tried a couple things, and if they worked, it would have been awesome, but they didn’t.”
