Make reservations for a Thanksgiving meal
Roxanne Moody will lead a host of volunteers again, providing free meals on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. Moody said they are not offering sit-down meals; only pickup and delivery.
The meal will not be prepared at Mister Bagel this year due to a change of ovens. It will be cooked in the kitchen at Gorham Recreation Department, 75 South St.
The volunteers buy 150 pounds of turkey and receive donations of 60 pounds of potatoes, 40 pounds of carrots, 45 pounds of squash, and 45 pounds of sweet potatoes from Meservey Farms in Buxton and will have a multitude of pies, breads, deviled eggs, and donations of homemade cranberry sauce.
Moody reports “upward of 50 volunteers” pull together to provide the meal. “We take monetary donations to help with expenses and any money left over after expenses goes to the local food pantry and (school) backpack program,” Moody said.
The group plans on feeding about 130, but last year took orders for 140 before turning away people. To make reservations or request delivery, call Moody at 839-4516 or email trmoody75@gmail.com.
Leave a message with names, phone numbers and addresses and also inform them whether anyone is diabetic.
“If you are able to pick up, we’d appreciate it,” Moody said.
