Tenth-seeded Windham won a penalty-kick shootout as the Eagles earned a spot in the Class A South boys soccer quarterfinals by defeating No. 7 Westbrook, 1-0, in a preliminary-round game Saturday at Westbrook.

Windham (6-8-1) prevailed 5-4 in penalty kicks after teams were scoreless through regulation and two overtimes.

Tate Robinson made 10 saves for Windham, which advances to play No. 2 Falmouth in the quarterfinals.

Sam Luanika of Westbrook (7-8) turned aside 12 shots.

MARSHWOOD 2, PORTLAND 1: Kian Denault scored six minutes left in overtime to lift the Hawks (10-4-1) past the Bulldogs (3-9-3) in a Class A prelim in South Berwick.

Marshwood, which advances to play No. 4 South Portland in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, took a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the second half on a goal by Robert Willliams. Vlad Napijalo tied it with 13 minutes left in regulation.

Brevan Lavin assisted on the winning goal. Marshwood keeper Carter Shaw made seven saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

SANFORD 1, BONNY EAGLE 0: An Ava Hudson goal late in the first half was enough for the sixth-seeded Spartans (10-5) in a Class A South preliminary-round win over the 11th-seeded Scots (5-9-1) in Sanford.

Kenzie Taylor assisted on Hudson’s goal.

Sanford keeper Sophie Olivo and Bonny Eagle’s Keona Ingram both made seven saves.
The Spartans will play No. 3 Windham in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
