Alan Ashman Cooper
WOOLWICH – Alan Ashman Cooper, 74, of Woolwich passed away peacefully on Oct. 15, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 22, 1951, in Damariscotta, Maine, to Harold and Marolyn (Ladd) Cooper. He lived a life marked by devotion—to his family, his country, and his work. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later dedicated 30 years to Bath Iron Works (BIW).
Alan is survived by his wife, Elnora (Elfie) Fortier Cooper; his son, Jason Cooper (Bethany), and his daughter, Sandy Lewis (Kenny); his grandchildren Carly Doolin, Hannah Cooper and David James; his siblings Leisa Fine, Sandra St Pierre-Sigler, Mike Cooper and Jerry Cooper; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also played a loving and supportive role in raising his three stepdaughters, Cassie Owen, Tina Royce, and Kim Garvey.
Alan was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Christopher Cooper.
Known for his quiet strength, gentle heart, infectious smile and an unwavering love for his family, NASCAR, The New England Patriots, Auctions and “A Good Deal”Alan’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of life will be held Nov. 15, 2025, 1 p.m. at the Bath American Legion where friends and family are invited to attend and honor the life of this remarkable man. Memories and condolences can be shared at http://www.brackettfh.com.
