BROCKTON, Mass. – Elinor M. (Driscoll) Forbes, 81, passed away in her home on Sept. 20, 2025 after a long illness.
Ellie was born May 18, 1944 in Dorchester, Mass. to John Driscoll and Eunice (Tuttle) Driscoll. She attended St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury, Mass. and Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Upon returning from Canada, she worked for many years for Boston Edison, during which time she met her husband of 56 years, David Forbes.
In the 1980s, Ellie began working for Brockton Public Schools, and she made several lifelong friends during her many years there.
Ellie was a lifelong summer resident of Peaks Island where she had many dear friends and family, and she enjoyed spending summers with friends she had had since she was a child. She was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s and looked forward to their summer fair each year.
Ellie is survived by her husband, David P. Forbes of Yarmouth; her daughter, Marie Gagnon and husband Scott M. Gagnon of Gray; three grandchildren, Vivian Forbes and Mason Gagnon of Gray, and Portia Gagnon of Orono; her sister, Mickey Neely and husband Paul Neely of Pembroke, Mass., brother John J. Driscoll of Las Vegas, Nev., and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eunice and John Driscoll; sister, Carolyn McCarthy, and brother-in-law, John McCarthy.
Calling hours are on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Russell & Pica Funeral Home at 441 S. Main St., West Bridgewater, followed by a prayer service at 5 p.m.
