The Maine Mariners were shut out by the Reading Royals 4-0 in Maine’s home opener Sunday before an announced crowd of 5,571 at the Cross Insurance Arena.
Artem Kulakov, Jordan Frasca, Nick Capone and Connor McMenamin (empty net) scored for Reading.
Royals goalie Keith Petruzzelli collected his sixth career shutout, stopping all 32 Mariners shots. Maine counterpart Luke Cavallin turned made 35 saves as he started for the second day in a row.
