A Standish woman has been charged with fatally shooting a man whose body was found inside a house earlier this month.

Lynn Perkins, 37, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with murder in connection with the death of 49-year-old Matthew Hamilton, who was found dead in her River Road home on Oct. 3, according to Maine State Police.

Perkins and Hamilton had been in a relationship, police spokesperson Shannon Moss said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined his cause of death was a gunshot, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies found Hamilton’s body when they were called to 715 River Road around 6:50 p.m. Oct. 3. Police said at the time that there was no threat to the public and “all persons involved” had been identified.

Perkins was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where she was being held without bail, Moss said.

Moss said the investigation is ongoing and did not release any other information about the incident.
