Patten Free Library invites the community to dream big and think boldly about the future of libraries in a rapidly evolving technological landscape during a discussion next Wednesday.
PFL will host “Dream Big, Build Forward: Shaping the Future of Technology at Patten Free Library,” an interactive visioning session designed to spark creativity, gather input and build a shared vision for how the library can meet future tech needs, from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the library, 33 Summer St. in Bath.
As public libraries continue to evolve, so must their technological services. Patrons expect modern tools, digital access and expert support — and PFL wants to hear directly from the community about what that should look like in the coming years.
“This is more than a conversation about gadgets and Wi-Fi,” Assistant Director Elizabeth Manning said in a prepared release. “It’s about imagining how technology can strengthen access to information, foster connection and serve everyone in our community. And we want your wildest dreams on the table.”
The evening will feature informal “conversational cafés,” light refreshments and an open invitation for all to contribute. Registration is encouraged at pattenfreelibrary.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
