Robert Cronin broke a tie with 2:34 remaining, lifting the Maine Mariners to a 3-2 win over the Worcester Railers in their ECHL preseason finale Saturday at Harold Alfond Forum in Biddeford.
Ty Cheveldayoff and Wyllum Deveaux scored in the first period for the Mariners, and who outshot Worcester 43-25.
The Railers grabbed the lead just 30 seconds into the game on a goal by J.C. Campagna. Cheveldayoff tied it just over a minute later, then assisted on Deveaux’s goal late in the first.
Tyler Kobryn made it 2-2 early in the second.
Mariners goalie Brad Arvanitis finished with 23 saves.
The teams meet again in a regular-season opener next Saturday night in Massachusetts. Portland’s home opener is next Sunday afternoon against the Reading Royals.
