Donald Ormond Irish
POWNAL – Donald Ormond Irish, “Donnie”, 44, of Pownal, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025.
He was born March 17, 1981, to the late Charlene Linda Boullie and Donald Robert Irish.
Donnie was born and raised in Pownal and attended Pownal Elementary School, Freeport High School, Greely and PRVTC to study horticulture. He was also a member of the North Pownal Methodist Church, and former Boy Scout.
Donnie was an extremely talented carpenter, jack of all trades, loving brother and proud uncle, partner, and amazing friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and being with family. Donnie leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, compassion, and persistence to live life to the fullest. He will forever be missed and cherished.
He was predeceased in life by his parents Charlene and Donald Irish of Pownal; grandparents Hildred Swan and Clinton Boullie of Westbrook, Marion Davis and Ormond Irish of Pownal; and his best furry friend, Purple Haze.
Donnie leaves two devastated sisters and their families, Melinda Irish and her husband Michael Ward; niece, Madison Ward, nephews Zachary Ward and Benjamin Ward all of Pownal; and sister, Melanie Irish of Lisbon Falls; as well as his fiancée, Cassandra “Casey” Lawrence of Lisbon, and her children Vivian Lawrence of Lisbon and Zak Melbon of Augusta. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Daphne, who was his constant and loving friend.
Services will be held at the Pownal First Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Rd., Saturday, Oct. 11 at 12 p.m. Refreshments and gathering will follow at Donnie’s childhood home, 32 Fickett Rd. Donnie will be laid to rest next to his parents at the Elmwood Road Cemetery at a later date.
