YARMOUTH – Gloria Priscilla (York) Morrill, 89, of Yarmouth, died peacefully on Sept. 23, 2025, at Sedgewood Commons memory care facility in Falmouth. Gloria was born on March 3, 1936, the daughter of Lewis and Daisy York (Jones).
Gloria was a devout Christian and raised her children in the church of the Nazarene. She took every opportunity presented to her to share her faith. She attended church regularly until she no longer was able to, due to her health. Then she attended church via her radio programs. Her favorite book in the bible was the Psalms.
On Sept. 19, 1952, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Leroy Morrill. Gloria and Dick owned and operated Spring Street Market in Yarmouth. Gloria worked tirelessly picking out crab meat to be sold in the store as well as being a stay-at-home mom to seven children.
Gloria was an avid quilter and member of the Yarmouth quilting group for many years. She tried her best to make a quilt for every member of the family. She was a passionate reader and bargain hunter (always looking for deals on books, yard sales and Salvation Army and Goodwill). She loved to try to keep up with technology and wanted every new kitchen gadget that came along.
Gloria did not get her driver’s license until she was in her 30s. She decided it was time to learn to drive the same time as her eldest daughter. Many years later, she also had a desire to finish her schooling and completed her GED. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her large family.
She is survived by three sons, William Morrill, Jeffrey (Karla) Morrill, John Morrill, as well as three daughters, Shirley Giles, Judith (Michael) Dembrowski, Jennifer (James) Swanson. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; eight siblings; her husband, Richard Morrill; and eldest son, Richard Lewis Morrill, son-in-law, Roy Giles, and daughter-in-law, Beth Morrill.
Visiting hours will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m., at Brackett Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Cemetery on Route 88 in Yarmouth.
