YARMOUTH – John Philip Scamman, MD, 73, of North Yarmouth, passed away July 24, 2025, at home.
Born May 22, 1952, in Biddeford, John attended schools in Saco and Cape Elizabeth before graduating from Hebron Academy, Harvard, and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He practiced psychiatry in Portland until retiring in 2020.
Beyond medicine, John was a lifelong hockey player in the Falmouth and Yarmouth’s Men’s Leagues, enthusiastic curler with the Pine Tree Curling Club, and passionate model rocketry builder.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy M. Cray. He is survived by partner Nancy Jane Clark; sons Nicholas and Wyler “Bear”; and brother Charles.
A Celebration of Life will be held Oct. 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Purpoodock Club, Cape Elizabeth, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
