Edward Lloyd “Teddy” Everest
OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Edward Lloyd “Teddy” Everest, 81, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, passed away peacefully on the last day of summer, Sept 21, 2025. Born in Portland June 29, 1944, to English immigrants Edward George and Kathleen (Mitcheson) Everest, Teddy was the youngest of three.
He graduated from Deering High School in Portland, Maine, in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Dorsey, at St. Patrick’s Church in 1964.
Always a proud American, Teddy joined the Navy right out of high school before beginning a long career in copier sales career with Denison Mfg. and Konica Minolta. He earned top awards, traveled the world with Linda, and often laughed with his amazing co-workers saying, “if we could only afford to live like this”.
Golf, however, was his greatest passion. Teddy lived by the motto he passed down “if you live your life by the rules of golf, your life will be all set.” While still selling copiers, in the 1980’s, he and family bought a golf course in Berlin, Mass, where the kids and their cousins grew close to the game and each other.
Around his retirement years (2006), Ted took over a 5-year lease at the Riverside golf course restaurant and named it “Bogies Bar & Grill”. He loved running Bogies and raising a glass with those he loved at Riverside. He and Linda had a beautiful house he shared with anyone who needed a place to sleep on Pine Point in Scarborough.
In recent years, Teddy and Linda lived on the 11th hole at Dunegrass where he worked as a starter on Thursday afternoons. He greeted golfers with warmth and wit. He was so proud to represent such a great golf community like Dunegrass. His family will cherish the summer days with him sitting on the rocking chairs up top of the practice green. He loved spending winters with family and friends at his home in Houston. Wherever he was, everyone referred to him as a true gentleman.
Teddy was a man of unique talents. He taught his grandkids card tricks and trick pool shots. He passed down his love of music from Andre Bocelli, Richie Havens, Frank Sinatra, and Diana Krall. Sunday dinners were important to the family and usually ended with lots of laughter.
Teddy was preceded in death by his beloved Linda, their infant daughter Kimberly, his brother Bob, and sister Pat. He’s survived by his three children, David (and Deena) Everest of Houston, Texas, Stephanie (and Rusty) Batey of Houston, Texas and Lisa Everest (Tony Donovan) of Old Orchard Beach. He leaves behind nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Mon, Sept 29, 2025, at Dunegrass Golf Course in Old Orchard Beach. Reception to follow. And then this fall, a celebration will happen with his loved ones in Houston, Texas.
