Adrien Herve LaVerriere
SEBRING, Fla. – Adrien Herve LaVerriere, 92, of Sebring, Fla., passed away peacefully in hospice care on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.
Born in Biddeford on April 8, 1933, Adrien was the son of Herve and Irene (Piette) LaVerriere. He was educated in Biddeford and graduated with the class of 1952 from the former St. Louis High School. Shortly after, he proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War.
On July 6, 1957, Adrien married the love of his life, Claudette T. Neault, at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. Their marriage was blessed with 63 years of devotion, partnership, and faith until Claudette’s passing in 2021. She remained his forever love.
Adrien worked for Sampson’s Supermarket in the early 1960s, managing the Biddeford location for many years. He later joined Atkinson’s Furniture in Saco, where his warmth and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. He retired from Atkinson’s after 25 years of service in 1994.
A man of faith and community, Adrien was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 49 years and remained connected to his roots through the St. Louis Alumni Association. A devout Catholic, he served his parish faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing compassion and kindness to all he encountered.
Adrien was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claudette; as well as his sister, Antoinette Worcester of Saco, and his brothers Joseph LaVerriere of Naugatuck, Conn., and Donald LaVerriere of South Berwick.
He is survived by his loving children, Marc LaVerriere and his wife, Lori, of Lake Worth, Fla., Patricia Lessard of Vero Beach, Fla., and Ann and her husband, Jeff Sobil, of Denver, Colo. Adrien was the proud grandfather of seven, Matthew and Sarah LaVerriere, Amanda, Emily, and Lhea Lessard, and Eleanor and Ava Sobil. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Madison Clement and Ryder Watson, children of Lhea.
Adrien’s life was rich with simple joys—he loved music, running, cycling, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. Above all, he cherished time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his deep faith, his gentle spirit, and his steadfast devotion to those he loved. He is now reunited with Claudette and rests peacefully with our Lord.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 178 Elm St., Biddeford, followed by burial.
