FREEPORT – Oscar Manson, born on Jan. 12, 1954, passed away on July 18, 2025, in Freeport, surrounded by family.
Throughout his life, Oscar embraced a variety of roles and careers, including many years as the owner of a towing company and garage. He also had a career for a time as a Burner Technician. Later, he took to the open road as a long-haul truck driver.
For several years Oscar and his family enjoyed working on his racecar together and watching Oscar race mostly at Oxford Plains Speedway where he earned the nickname “The Crafty Veteran”. Oscar is remembered by those who knew him as a man that never met a stranger.
He is survived by his son, Nathaniel (Rebecca) of Freeport, his daughter, Melissa, and his stepdaughter, Samantha (Donald) of Bowdoin. He also leaves behind several grandchildren; and his father, Harold “Sonny” Manson, Sr., of Topsham.
Oscar was predeceased by two sons, Justin and Oscar Jr., whose memories remained close to his heart.
