Faye Louise (Thomas)
Riendeau

GREENCASTLE, Pa. – Faye Louise (Thomas) Riendeau, 80, of Greencastle, Pa., died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at the Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pa.

She was born in Guilford Township, Pa. on March 13, 1945, and grew up in Greencastle, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Margaret (Knott) and Floyd Thomas. Faye met her husband, Raymond, while he was in military service, stationed at Fort Ritchie. They moved to Topsham, Maine and spent the next 62 years by each other’s side.

Together, they owned businesses: Riendeau’s Variety—a small convenience store with a candy counter that would make Willy Wonka proud—and Riendeau Builders.

When her kids were grown, Faye decided to turn her home into a daycare. For 22 years, she and her daughter, Tammy, cared for children ranging from babies to school-aged kids. The house was always full of noise and chaos, and she loved every minute of it.

After Ray’s death, Faye decided to relocate back to Pennsylvania, where she was loved and supported by her sisters and brother. Living on her own for the first time in decades, Faye was making a new life for herself and found community by sitting on the sidewalk bench, introducing herself to the many people who would pass by. Her superpower was always her ability to make quick friends with strangers.

Faye took the most pleasure in the simple things in life. She loved decorating her house at Christmas, doing her word-search puzzles, and enjoying Lil’ Debby snack cakes.

Faye was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Raymond Riendeau; her three brothers, William (Knott), Daryl Thomas, and Terry Thomas, and her sister, Virginia Moats.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Minor, and her partner, Dwayne Palmer, her son, Eric Riendeau, and his wife, Christine; five sisters, Evelyn Miller, Karen Thomas, Arlene Barnes, Betsy Laudenslager, and Cincy Quillen, two brothers, Gary Thomas and Walter “Bud” Thomas; five grandchildren, Miranda Alexander, Matthew Alexander, Marissa Alexander, Maggie Riendeau, and Emmie Riendeau; and one great-granddaughter, Brenley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to all the special people who supported Faye, kept her safe, and provided friendship in her later years: her sisters and brothers -who found her the best apartment and helped her navigate living on her own; Nancy, her in-home nurse and friend; Elizabeth, the wonderful EMT who checked on her regularly; Bob and Amy, the best neighbors anyone could ask for; Sophia, her wonderful and caring in-home companion; and Corey, her new neighbor who treated her as a lifelong friend. And to all the people who took the time to stop and spend time with Faye on her bench—it meant more to her than you could ever know.
