BRUNSWICK – David L. Stevens of Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, from natural causes, surrounded by friends and family at the Veteran’s Home in Augusta.
David was born in North Fairfield, on May 25, 1925, son of Carl Stevens and Leona Stevens (Gifford). David attended the Goodwill School in Hinkley.
Still a teenager, serving in World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Upon returning, he married Lucy Stevens (Snowman) and lived in Brunswick where he raised his family.
During his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, square dancing and also spending time at his camp in Belgrade Lakes.
He is survived by his son, David Stevens Jr., and his wife Cindy of Brunswick, a daughter, Debra Stevens and her husband Fulton Hunt of Topsham; two granddaughters, Dawn Stevens of Dresden, and Kristen Weikel of Ellicott City, Md.; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle Cayford and Jared Krause.
We would like to thank the Maine Veteran’s Home staff in Augusta for their wonderful care of David in his last months. He always spoke of his caregivers as his “angels”.
A private family graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Brunswick at a future date.
