BRUNSWICK – Albert D. Hanson, 79, passed away Aug. 19, 2025, at Midcoast Hospital surrounded by family.
Albert was born May 16, 1946, in Topsham to Ray and Dolly (Schibner) Hanson. Albert graduated Brunswick High School and attended one year of college in Houlton before taking over the family dairy farm when his father passed away.
The self-employed dairy farmer. Everyone knew where he was twice a day, milking his cows. Always up for a visit from anyone that wanted to see him. He retired from dairy farming in 1997 to become a rural letter carrier for the Bowdoinham Post Office.
In his spare time you could always find him enjoying the outdoors, working on equipment, sitting on the front lawn enjoying a beer with friends, in the woods, hunting, cutting wood for the winter, or just enjoying the wildlife.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Rachel (Giard) Hanson; his parents, Ray and Dolly Hanson; and his sister, Debbie Hunter (Wiscassett).
He is survived by his brother, Gus Hanson; his daughter, Melissa Shaw (Matt Shaw), stepsons Stanley Edgecomb and Dale Edgecomb; and his three grandchildren, Logan Edgecomb, Sarah Shaw and Ben Shaw.
A celebration of Life will be held for both Albert and Rachel Hanson at their farm, 460 Middlesex Rd., Topsham, on Sept. 21, at 1 p.m.
