Michael J. Doyle

SARASOTA, Fla. – Michael J. Doyle, 61, died on August 22, 2025, after a five-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 20, 1964, in Rhode Island, to Richard C. Doyle and Carol (Schindler) Doyle of Buffalo, NY. His family relocated to Pittsburgh, Pa., where he grew up, attended Penn State University and became a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates. In 1987 Mike moved to Maine where he met and married the love of his life, Colleen Redmond.

Mike and Colleen were active members of Maine’s running community, participating in marathons around the world. They served as co-editors of Maine Track Club’s newsletter, winning national awards through the Road Runners Club of America where Mike was nationally recognized as an Outstanding Club Writer. After moving to Florida 10 years ago Mike continued running even after his pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatments. In 2023 he completed a 10K in Venice, Fla. finishing fourth in his division.

Mike was a respected member of Sarasota’s senior softball community and was known as a skilled player and devoted teammate, continuing to play throughout his treatments into early 2025. Mike contributed beating the odds as long as did to playing softball, long walks with his beautiful labrador retriever, Sid, the loving care of Colleen, and spending time outdoors with his brother and sisters – who will forever miss their little brother, Mikey.

Mike is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Colleen Redmond of Portland, Maine and Sarasota, Fla.; mother Carol Doyle and sister Diane Doyle of Saco, Maine; sister Lynda Mallow of Washington, DC, brother Richard Doyle of Pittsburgh, Pa,; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Richard C. Doyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Boulevard Of The Arts, Sarasota, Florida.
