Franklin Arias led off the ninth inning with a tiebreaking home run as the Portland Sea Dogs earned an 8-7 victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in an Eastern League game Thursday night in Binghamton, New York.
The Sea Dogs fell behind 3-0 in the first inning, then answered with five runs in the second and led most of the game until Binghamton tied it in the seventh. Pinch-hitter Tyler Miller put Portland back in front in the eighth with a sacrifice fly that drove in Karson Simas, but Omar De Los Santos of the Rumble Ponies made it 7-7 with an RBI triple in the bottom half.
After the Sea Dogs regained the lead in the ninth, the game ended with an unassisted double play by Portland right fielder Juan Chacon, who charged in for a line drive and caught a runner off second base.
Marvin Alcantara, Brooks Brannon, Simas and Ahbram Liendo each had two hits for the Sea Dogs.
