A mother and son who had gone missing in Portland around midday Friday have been located and are safe, the Maine State Police said.

The state police had posted a request on Facebook asking for help finding Morgan Geyer, 29, and her son, Logan Simard, 4, in Portland Friday afternoon.

State police updated their post around 7:30 p.m. to say that mother and son were safe.
