The seasoned musicians who collaborated with Gordon Lightfoot on his world-famous recordings and toured extensively with him in North America and internationally for decades will perform at Boothbay Harbor’s Opera House on Saturday, Aug. 30.
The Lightfoot Band is touring this year celebrating the music of their bandmate Gordon Lightfoot. The band includes legendary veterans Rick Haynes on bass, Barry Keane on drums and percussion, Mike Heffernan on keyboards, and Carter Lancaster on the lead guitars. The concert will include Andy Mauck on vocals and 6- and 12-string rhythm guitars. Mauck was a lifetime friend of Lightfoot’s and has a voice that matches his.
Together, the band is keeping Lightfoot’s music alive, playing the music synonymous with Lightfoot, including “Sundown,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway,” “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” “Beautiful,” “Rainy Day People” and “Early Morning Rain,” to name a few, as well as some deeper cuts not heard live for decades. In addition to sharing the music, the band members will relate some history and “stories of the road.”
Advance discounted tickets are $35 and available directly from the box office at 86 Townsend Ave. or by calling 633-5159. Regular tickets are $40 and available online at boothbayoperahouse.com and at the door on the day of the concert. Doors for seating open at 7 p.m. and the music comes to life at 7:30 p.m.
