Valeria “Dolly” Scott
AUGUSTA – Valeria “Dolly” Scott, 88, passed away at the Maine Veterans’ Home on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. Dolly was born on August 9, 1937, to Joseph and Lena (Pierozzi) Ferro in Springvale, Maine.
She was a proud member of the Class of 1955 of Sanford High School and a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She married Frank Scott in 1958, and they made their home in Alfred. Dolly lived her life through the simple pleasures of spending time with her family and friends, volunteering in the community, and she had a wonderful way of always making people feel welcome in her home. She was a kind and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her sense of generosity was passed on to her daughters.
Dolly’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her two daughters, Deborah (Ronald) Aseltine and Laurie Scott; her grandchildren, Thomas (Sarah) Aseltine, Shelby Aseltine (John Horton), Katherine Trask and Michael Bowring, and her sweet great granddaughter, Lena Aseltine; her brother, Joseph Ferro, brother-in-law Jack Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband;, her parents; her brother Vincent Ferro; and her infant daughter Donna.
Family and friends whose lives Dolly touched are invited to Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak Street, Alfred, Maine, for an hour of visitation prior to the service on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. A graveside memorial to follow for close family and friends at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred, Maine.
The family would like to thank the community of Granite Hill Estates in Hallowell, Maine, and her special caregivers, Gail and Laura, for their support over the last seven years. The family would also like to express their appreciation to the Maine Veterans Home-Augusta for their care this past week.
