A Hebron man died Tuesday after a motor vehicle collision in Minot.
A Chevy Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound on Center Minot Hill Road early Tuesday when it crossed the centerline, colliding with a Mercury minivan being driven southbound by Jonathan Spoffard, 48, of Hebron, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Authorities responded to the crash around 5:35 a.m., the sheriff’s office said, and Spoffard sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“He was extricated from the vehicle by Minot Fire personnel with assistance from Auburn Fire Department,” the sheriff’s office said.
Dylan Conlon, 39, of Norway, was operating the pickup truck and was not injured.
The crash took place on the 700 block of Center Minot Hill Road. A stretch of the road between Marston Hill Road and Woodman Hill Road was closed for nearly five hours as authorities investigated the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
