Jeanette M. (Gilbert) Cronin
PORTLAND – Jeanette M. (Gilbert) Cronin, 67, of Portland, died peacefully on Aug. 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving friends and family.
She was the daughter of Joan McCullum Gilbert and James R. Gilbert, and was born and raised in Portland.
In 1978, Jeanette married her loving husband, Robert C. Cronin, who predeceased her in 2024.
She is survived by her daughters Jessie Cronin of Maine, Kelley Larson of Massachusetts; and her loving partner, Robert “Bob” Guthzeit of Portland. She is also survived by her brothers John Gilbert of Portland, and James Gilbert of Casco, and her sister, Christine Gilbert Ouellette of Connecticut; as well as many nieces and nephews; along with friends who were also like family to her.
She was predeceased by her parents Joan and Jim Gilbert; her sisters Kathy Gilbert Cronin, Sylvia Gilbert Proctor, and Pauline Gilbert, and her brother, Edward Gilbert.
Jeanette loved spending time with her family on the lakes in Maine, cooking for her friends and family, photography, and wildlife. She was known to have wild birds, chipmunks, and rabbits eating from her hands. Jeanette was also an cat lover, giving a loving home to many over her lifetime.
A private memorial service will be held.
