Bake Maine of Portland has announced its closure on social media. The cafe/bakery, which originated in Wells, opened its Portland location almost three years ago.
“It’s been a crazy adventure,” the Instagram announcement said in part, “but we need to focus on our Wells location. Try as we might, we still can’t be in two places at once.”

The location’s final day is scheduled for next Wednesday , “unless we sell out sooner,” the post said. Doug and Kristen Perry opened the bakery/cafe in January, 2023 in the old Portland Pottery Cafe spot. The menu includes such items as a biscuit sandwich, Texican Wrap, Harvest Melt sandwich and a variety of coffees and teas.
The Wells location of Bake Maine will remain open. The owners could not be reached immediately for additional details.
