A 58-year-old man died Sunday night in a Penobscot County prison.
Kevin Ayer passed away at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston, according to the Maine Department of Corrections.
Ayer was sentenced to three counts of gross sexual assault in August 2016. His earliest release date was October 2039.
The Maine Office of the Attorney General and state medical examiner were notified, per policy.
