Bath will celebrate its 12th annual Kindness Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Each year on Kindness Day, the community comes together in downtown Bath to do small acts of kindness. The event is completely free and great family fun.
Individuals, organizations, churches, school groups, friends, neighbors and families set up stations on the sidewalk downtown to offer their act of kindness to the community. Local musicians, The Montsweagers, have volunteered to provide live music. Businesses are also encouraged to participate with giveaways and kindness-themed displays inside their storefronts.
Bryanna Ringrose created the event during her junior year at Morse High School. She had an idea for a day in Bath where people could share random acts of kindness with each other. With the help of Darreby Ambler and the Wayfinders program, her idea became a reality. Since then, it has grown each year and become a beloved community tradition. The event is currently organized by volunteer Jennifer McDorr who also has a passion for acts of kindness and spreading joy in the community.
At Kindness Day in Bath you can take a free trolley ride provided by the city of Bath, have your face painted by Addie Hinds who creates smiles year after year with her art, choose a hand-painted kindness rock from Karen Kochjar, as well as enjoy cotton candy, popcorn and other treats given out by local groups and churches. The day is full of kindness games and giveaways. Participants can even write a note of encouragement or take one from the Kindness Day mailbox.
