Glenn Arthur Charles
LITTLE ELM, Texas – Glenn Arthur Charles, 77, of Little Elm, Texas, originally from South Portland, Maine, passed away on July 30, 2025.
Glenn was born in Bangor, Maine, in 1947 to Margaret and Arthur Charles. He was the eldest of six sons. He attended South Portland High School and later studied business and finance at the University of Maine at Orono. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, serving six years. While serving in Korea during the Vietnam War he achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Glenn met the love of his life, Nancy, in 1981 at his office Christmas party in Bar Harbor, Maine. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on Oct. 1, 1983, in Swampscott, Mass. Glenn and Nancy couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children, Brianne and Thomas meant the world to him. Though he loved traveling the world with Nancy, caring for their dogs, and being an “rabid” Red Sox fan, Glenn’s favorite role was that as a grandfather. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their “Papa”. Glenn had a soft spot for his furry loved ones, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Glenn was passionate about his 15-year career as a Cargo Aviation Security Inspector at George Bush Intercontinental Airport for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Glenn was preceded in death by his brother Peter and both parents Arthur and Margaret Charles. He is survived in death by his wife Nancy; their son Thomas, and daughter Brianne Schmidtke, her husband Troy, and their two children Dylan and Harper of Denton Texas. He is survived by four of his brothers: Bruce, his wife Liliana and their sons, Scott and his partner Marti, Mark and his wife Noemi, and Barry.
Glenn will always be remembered for his love of cooking, a good glass of Chardonnay, and relaxing on the deck with a good book. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, parent, grandfather, and brother. We will miss Glenn every day. His family is left with the cherished memories which will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Glenn’s memorial service will be held on Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, Texas.
