Skowhegan-based Maine Grains has been named a finalist in the inaugural ConsciousCPG Awards.

The awards recognize companies that embody “Purpose, Passion, Planet, People, and Prosperity,” according to a press release. Maine Grains, a heritage grain miller and supplier that has worked to revive the Northeast grain economy, is a finalist in the Business category. (CPG stands for “consumer-packaged goods.”)

Winners will be announced at a “summit” in Colorado on Aug. 21. The awards program is run by Naturally Network, a national nonprofit that works to promote “conscious business practices in the natural products arena.”

“This recognition validates our belief that business can be a force for positive change,” said Amber Lambke, CEO and co܈founder of Maine Grains. “We’re building more than a grain business. We’re restoring food systems that nourish communities, support farmers, and heal the land.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle-based Singing Pastures, a meat-based snack company, will be pitching in the Naturally Rising competition at the same summit, another program of the Naturally Network.
