Julia “Jill” Metivier
PORTLAND – Julia “Jill” Metivier (formerly Sansone), 73, of Portland, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A proud graduate of Deering High School, Jill went on to marry Ronald Metivier of Westbrook and raise two beloved children. Throughout her life, she worked in banking, retail, and as a phlebotomist, but her most cherished role was being a devoted and deeply proud mother.
Jill found joy in travel, decorating the many homes she made beautiful, and caring for the animals that brought her constant joy and companionship. Always quick to strike up a conversation, Jill formed meaningful connections and friendships wherever she went. Fiercely independent and full of life, she blazed her own trail – leaving behind a legacy of warmth, beauty, and laughter.
She is survived by her children, James Metivier and Heather Metivier Lee; her sisters, Cathy Young and Elizabeth Sansone; and her beloved grandchildren, Macie, Sebastian, Sienna and Quinn. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know and love her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:30-6 p.m., at Riverplace Clubhouse, 1 Riverplace Dr., South Portland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jill’s memory to Susan G. Komen, http://www.info-komen.org/goto/jillmetivier.
