Robert G. Dobson
SACO – Robert G. Dobson, 67, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly May 2025, and will be sadly missed.
Robert demonstrated a deep love for family, friends, nature, and his feline friends Daphne and Velma. An avid gardener, his passion blossomed through flowers. He grew a variety of native and unusual species at his former home in Topsham, created for his late husband, Stuart Hunter. He said once, “watching a single seed turn into something beautiful was nature’s way of making him smile.”
Robert worked for Meadowood Farm, and later, Snell Farm, collaborating from seedlings through bouquet design for local Farmer’s Markets. Lifelong friends were also sown at these farms, and watching him interact with customers, smiling and laughing, you knew he was in his element. He leaves behind a legacy of love through exterior landscape masterpieces, original art, surprise meal deliveries, and 30-plus years of cherished handfolded cards mailed to family and friends.
Robert was predeceased by sister, Peggy, brother, James, and mother, Lena. Robert is survived by brothers, David, Gary (wife Patricia), Jeff (wife Julie), and Brian (wife Laura) and sister Mary (husband Dan). His close friends and many nieces/nephews will miss his spark immensely. For Robert, Stuart, and mother-in-law Prudence Hunter, their beloved ocean has become their cradle, their rest and rebirth.
