Lileen “Nee-Nee” Faye Anderson
JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Lileen “Nee-Nee” Faye Anderson, 73, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her home in Juno Beach, Fla. (formerly of Scarborough).
Born on June 23, 1952, in Presque Isle, Lileen was the eldest daughter of Jacqueline and H. Sturgis Hodgdon. The oldest of eight children – the young ones could not pronounce her name and called her “Nee-Nee” which became her preferred name for all that knew her for the remainder of her life.
Nee-Nee attended Cape Elizabeth for most of her middle and high school years where she played field hockey and was on the swimming team. Her senior year she attended and graduated from Hollywood High School in Florida.
She spent most of her working life in the restaurant/hospitality business. At Rudy’s of the Cape, she was remembered as a legend as she quietly ran the place behind the scenes and then supported and helped manage many aspects of her husband’s business, Pat’s Pizza restaurant in Scarborough.
In work she was a quiet leader with an outstanding work ethic, always. You always knew where you stood with Nee-Nee and she guided her employees with a firm but fair hand. She was incredibly organized and was often teased about not even having a junk drawer. There was a place for everything.
Outside of work she was an incredible cook, seamstress and then she found golf. She excelled at golf and went on to win many tournament championships as a couple with her husband, as well as the ladies leagues at the Portland Country Club, Falmouth, and Turtle Creek Country Club, Jupiter, Fla. where they were members.
She lived the dream for many years with David, with homes in Florida and Maine, and was lovingly and fiercely devoted to David as he fought two separate cancer diagnoses.
Capturing the essence of Nee-Nee is simple- she had a twinkle in her eye with that smile, was no-nonsense, private, trustworthy and quick-witted. She didn’t want to be the center of attention, quietly sitting and enjoying the company of others at one of her favorite hangouts to laugh and enjoy their stories, the sun, and the beach with a margarita in hand.
Nee-Nee leaves behind her adoring daughter, Toni, who strived to bring joy and a smile to her mother’s face. They recently spent time together in May and for a beautiful week together over her birthday in June. Toni will always be her mother’s little mermaid and Nee-Nee always said she was proud of her daughter’s giving nature and huge heart.
Nee-Nee’s favorite movie was the “Sound of Music” as well as Hallmark Holiday movies because she loved happy endings. So, as her time has come to an end with all of us here on earth, we find comfort in knowing that she is starting a new beginning as she reunites with her loving husband and other cherished family members.
Lileen is survived by her daughter, Toni and son-in-law, Adam MacQuinn and her grand-pup Anchor; her mother, Jacqueline Brady; her stepmother, Paula Hodgdon; her siblings, Janet Hodgdon (Chuck), Billy Brady (Diane), Camie Hodgdon (Michael), Jackie Beaudoin (Dave), Jerri Greenwood (Dave); her sister-in-law Beth Hodgdon; her stepsons EJ and Tyler Anderson; and many nieces and nephews, as well as, her close friends in Maine and Florida. A special thank you to her dear friends, Jack and Cindy, in Florida, as well as her adopted daughters Lisa Taylor, Leslie Constantine and her wonderful neighbor, Mary Lou.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, David Anderson; her father, Sturge Hodgdon; her stepfather, Jerry Brady; her brother, Matthew Hodgdon; her nephew, Jack Mullin and her niece, Jaymie Mullin.
Per Nee-Nee’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Her desire was for her family to privately celebrate her life together and for her friends and staff at Schooners, Twisted Tuna, Duffy’s, The Brass Ring, Tiki Hut, Dune Dogs and The Cove to tell a funny story or two.
Nee-Nee will be laid to rest with her husband, David, in a private ceremony, in Falmouth Maine.
To celebrate Nee-Nee’s Memory, please consider making a donation in her name (Nee-Nee Anderson) to her favorite charity, Loggerhead Marinelife Center. (https://marinelife.org/give/)
