James “Jimmy” Glantz

WINDHAM – James Alfred Glantz, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Windham, on July 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Gray, to the late Andrew and Georgie (Duggan) Glantz. James graduated from Windham High School, class of 1961. James married Dian E. Smith on Dec. 4, 1965, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He worked as a mechanic for his brother, Ronnie, at Rons Auto Sales for over 50 years.

Anyone who knew James will tell you what an amazing man, husband, father, papa and friend he was. He spent his life taking care of others, fixing anything that was broken, watching and coaching his daughter’s sports teams, and finding a “good deal”. Jimmy shared his love of racing at Beech Ridge, alongside his father, brother, and best friend Bobby Bushley. He took many hunting, fishing, and camping trips with his sons-in-law and close friends. He especially enjoyed spending time in Rangeley and Greenville, going on long rides looking for wildlife. Jimmy also enjoyed taking rides all around the Sebago Lake area only after stopping at Dunkin for coffee and donuts. If you saw him with a scratch ticket, watching a New England sports game, or sleeping anywhere and everywhere you knew he was happy. Above all, anyone who knew him knew how much he loved his family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Dian E. Glantz (Smith) and her mother, Youbell Jackson; daughter, Kimberly Susbury and her husband, Michael, of Windham, daughter, Terri Hastings and her husband, Christopher, of Baldwin, daughter, Jaime Anderson and her boyfriend Steve Walker, of Windham, and daughter, Kellie Sawyer and her fiancé, Broderick Jordan, of Windham; nine grandchildren, Erin and Michaela Susbury, Katie Bagley and her husband, Brandon; Amanda Hastings; James, Laura, and Isaiah Anderson; and Andrew and Ashlee Sawyer; one great-grandson, Jack Bagley; his sister, Marlyin and her husband, Robert Sawyer, of Gray, his brother, Ronald Glantz and his girlfriend, Lori, of Windham, his sisters-in-law, Sheila Hawkins, of Waterboro, and Mary Elizabeth, of Dublin, Va.; and many nieces, nephews; and extended family and friends.

James was predeceased by, his parents, Andrew and Georgie Glantz; his sister, Andrea Littlefield and her husband Richard “Bo”, sister in-law, Judy Glantz, and his brother-in-law, Bruce Smith.

The family cannot give enough thanks to James’ wonderful First Light caregivers, Amy, Ann Marie, Melissa, Barbara, and Jessie and the entire team at Beacon Hospice who provided amazing care and support. A special thank you to Randy and Frank at Dolby, Blais & Segee for taking him on his “last ride to the station”.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday Aug. 17, at his home in Windham. The service will be held at 1 p.m., with food and refreshments to follow. To share memories and condolences with the family please go to http://www.dolbyblaissegee.com.
