
JD Davison, who was named the NBA G League MVP last season while playing for the Maine Celtics, was waived by the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
Boston signed Davison, the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, to a standard contract in April. In three seasons, the guard played in 36 games for Boston, averaging 1.9 points and 0.9 assists in 5.5 minutes per game.
For Maine in the 2024-25 season, Davison averaged 25.1 points, 7.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game and was named the league MVP. In three seasons with Maine, Davison averaged 19.8 points, 8.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game.
