Wilfred “Bill” Kingsley

GRAY – Wilfred “Bill” Kingsley, 85, of Gray, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2025, after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 29, 1939, in Boston, Bill lived a life marked by resilience, service, intelligence, and love. He proudly joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962, an experience that shaped the discipline and drive he carried throughout his life. Though he left high school early, Bill never stopped learning and eventually earned his master’s degree in Public Health from Boston College and Bridgewater State University. This started a long career as a medical center director with the VA at Yale Health that reflected his dedication to public service and veteran care. He retired at the age of 52, proud of all he had accomplished and the lives he impacted.

Bill was known for his sharp wit, quick intelligence, and incredible work ethic. He worked hard to build a life for his family and always did so with a sense of humor and a deep sense of purpose. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who put his heart into everything he did.

After the loss of his beloved wife Kathy in 2019, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years, Bill found unexpected joy and companionship when he met Jodi Theriault at the gym in 2021. They married in 2022 and brought light, laughter, and renewed adventure into each other’s lives.

Bill was proud of his military service and remained engaged with fellow veterans throughout his life. In his final years, despite his illness, he lived with joy, humor and love and spent meaningful time with family, making new memories, and bringing smiles to those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Jodi; sons, Eric Kingsley, and his wife, Julie of South Portland, and Christopher Kingsley, and his wife Jennifer of Oak Bluffs, Mass.; and by his four grandchildren; Jack and Rachel of South Portland, and Kaitlin and Blake of Oak Bluffs. His presence in their lives will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
