Westbrook City Clerk Ellis Ledoux has announced a list of candidates with nomination papers filed as of July 11.

Mayor David Morse will seek reelection in November and has been issued nomination papers. A challenger, Maurice Habimfura, also has papers out for the post.

Morse was elected last November for a year to fill the unexpired term of Michael Foley, who resigned to become the Gray town manager. Morse prevailed in a three-way mayoral race over challengers Lynda Adams and Larry McWilliams.

Westbrook could have a new look on the seven-member City Council with four seats up for grabs.

Those with papers out for the council are Elizabeth McLellan for an at-large seat. Incumbent Claude Rwaganje, now City Council president, has already announced he would not seek reelection for the at-large seat.

In Ward 1, incumbent Brian McCambridge has a challenger in Dustin Sleight. McCambridge was appointed to fill the  vacancy left by Morse to become mayor. Ward 2, incumbent Victor Chau and Ward 5, incumbent Jennifer Munro each have papers out.

For the Westbrook School Committee, Assistant City Clerk Erica Mercier said those taking nominations as of Monday are incumbent Noreen Poitras, Finance Committee chair, in Ward 3 and Andrea Mancuso, School Committee chair, in Ward 4. A School Committee at-large seat, now held by Jeremy McGowan, is also available.

All elected positions are for three-year terms.

Completed nomination papers need to be submitted to Ledoux’s office at Westbrook City Hall, 2 York St., no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. The municipal election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
