I’m writing to commend a letter in Monday’s July 7 paper, “Avelo Airlines must be held accountable for deportation flights.”
I, like the writer, am disturbed and disgusted that this is happening at the Jetport in Portland.
Thank you, Press Herald, for bringing it to the attention of Maine citizens. I also want to thank Councilor Kate Sykes for trying to get to the core of what’s happening. Where is Mayor Dion, where are the other councilors? Why are they not weighing in on this? If they also find these deportations abhorrent, they should be at the Jetport on Saturday, July 12, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to demonstrate against ICE’s partnership with Avelo.
