Dean Albert Bradbury

LINCOLN – Dean Albert Bradbury, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 2, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born on Aug. 18, 1939, in Lowell, he was the son of Avis Bowers and Albert Bradbury, and the cherished younger brother of Douglas Bradbury.

Dean was married to the love of his life, Frances “Fran” Bradbury, for nearly 62 years. They met in Branford, Conn., in 1962 – he was headed to California, and she had just arrived from Scotland to work as a nanny. Their meeting was serendipity, and their life together was one of deep love, devotion, and family. Fran passed away in April 2025, and Dean’s heart never truly recovered from the loss. He missed her every day, and now they are reunited.

Dean proudly served in the U.S. Army, with assignments in Kentucky and Korea. A hardworking man with an unmatched work ethic, he spent many years as a truck driver, providing a wonderful life for his family through grit and perseverance.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Bradbury, his daughter, Karen Bradbury-Drapeau, son-in-law, Tim Drapeau, and his adored grandchildren, Noah and Abby Drapeau. Dean was a devoted family man whose pride in his children and grandchildren knew no bounds.

Dean had a true zest for life. He loved snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, and anything with wheels and an engine. He especially loved restoring and showing off two beautifully rebuilt trucks, often stopping to chat with anyone who admired them. He enjoyed a few winters in Florida but his heart always belonged in Lincoln. He also loved to travel. Dean and Fran crossed the country with their camper for two-plus years, and they took many trips to Europe which they loved.

A natural storyteller, Dean delighted in sharing tales of his youth and the many escapades he had, especially those with his lifelong friend, Dale Stanley. His stories, humor, and generous spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dean’s passing is a shock and a heartbreak, but those who loved him take comfort in knowing he is now where he most wanted to be – back with his beloved Fran.

Raise a glass (his favorite drink was the “old fashion”) in his honor. Remember him with laughter, with love, and with stories – stories of kindness, mischief, engines, travel and adventure.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dean’s memory to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, https://www.somebigs.org/ an organization that reflects his love of kindness and making a difference.
