RENO, Nev. – On May 26, 2025, Lois T. Fitts passed away in Reno Nev. Lois was born in South Portland, a fact she never let us forget whenever South Portland beat Deering in football, to Lois and Ralph Totman.

After high school, Lois married Spencer B. Fitts and they settled in Portland. Lois raised her two children and made many friends while in Portland. She was a devoted mother and homemaker while her children were young, then worked at the YWCA as a bookkeeper for many years. She and Spencer were active members of the Portland Club. Upon retirement, they moved to Florida where Lois played golf, made more friends, played Scrabble and tried her luck at the slots once or twice.

Several years after Spencer’s passing, Lois moved to Reno to be closer to her family. She hung up her golf clubs, but made a new set of friends, some of whom became regular companions on her weekly trips to the casino.

Lois was predeceased by Spencer. She is survived by her two children, Emily and Rich; six grandsons; and three great grandsons.

One of her favorite phrases in her later years was “Mission Accomplished”. Her practicality, quick wit, and irrepressible desire to share a laugh with whoever she was with will be missed by all.
